17-Day Self-Drive Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Windhoek
You are transferred to Olive Grove Guesthouse. In the afternoon you meet your vehicle. The PTS team briefs you on its equipment, the driving conditions, your route and safety.

Day 2: Windhoek to Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch
Spend the morning buying supplies for the trip. Then drive to Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch for your first night of camping. The ranch has a pool and 4×4 trails.

Day 3: Mesosaurus Fossil Camp
Drive south to Mesosaurus Fossil Camp and Campsite. Take a guided tour to see the Mesosaurus fossils, old quiver trees and dolerite rock formations.

Days 4 and 5: Fish River Lodge, Fish River Canyon
Drive to Fish River Lodge on the western rim of Fish River Canyon. Stay two nights. Walk the trails along the canyon rim, relax at the lodge and cool off in the pool.

Days 6 and 7: Klein Aus Vista, near Aus
Drive west to Klein Aus Vista and stay two nights in a stone chalet. Use it as a base for hiking and mountain biking. The Aus area is known for its wild horses. You can also visit Kolmanskop, a ghost town left behind after the diamond mining industry moved on.

Day 8: Namtib Biosphere Reserve
Camp at Little Hunter’s Rest, on a private biosphere reserve at the edge of the Namtib Desert. The campsites are well spaced and shaded by camelthorn trees. The owners, Thorston and Linn, welcome you on arrival.

Days 9 and 10: Noois’hof, Sinclair Nature Reserve
Drive north to Noois’hof, a guest farm inside the 25,000-hectare Sinclair Nature Reserve. Stay two nights. You can join nature drives and walks, ride an e-bike or relax by the pool. The farm serves family-style meals.

Day 11: NamibRand Nature Reserve
Drive to NamibRand Family Hideout, which has only three campsites. It sits on a farm in the middle of NamibRand Nature Reserve. It is a private and quiet place to camp.

Day 12: Sesriem, Sossusvlei
Stay at Le Mirage Resort and Spa, half an hour from the Sesriem gate. Sossusvlei has some of the highest dunes in the world. Nature drives, quad biking and hot air ballooning are available.

Days 13 and 14: Tsondab Valley Lodge, Solitaire
Drive north to Tsondab Valley Lodge on a private nature reserve with red dunes and camelthorn savannah. Stay two nights. Use it as a base to explore Hidden Canyon and the Blue Marble Mountains.

Day 15: Namibgrens Guest Farm, Rehoboth
Drive through Spreetshoogte Pass and camp at Namibgrens Guest Farm. Hike to viewpoints on an escarpment above the Namib Desert. You can also drive the 4×4 trails between the granite outcrops.

Day 16: Eningu Kalahari Lodge
Spend your last night at Eningu Kalahari Lodge. A floodlit waterhole draws oryx, kudu and impala. With luck you may see porcupines or meerkats.
